Pokwang Relates to OFW Role in ‘A Mother’s Story’

‘A Mother’s Story’ takes on the story of an undocumented Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) named Medy and her experiences in the United States.

Pokwang who portrays Medy in the movie shared that she could relate to the role because she had been an OFW in the past although she was a documented worker, unlike Medy who was a TNT.

She can feel the role and character in the movie. The said movie is produced by The Filipino Channel (TFC) especially for Pinoy subscribers abroad.

‘A Mother’s Story’ received positive feedback when it was shown abroad, so Star Cinema decided to show it here. Pokwang was chosen by Gabby Lopez to play the role of Medy.

Her playing the roles in ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ also helped her a lot.

Meanwhile, Pokwang recalled her own story that in 1998, her daughter died while she was an OFW in Abu Dhabi. At 5-and-a-half years old, her daughter was diagnosed with brain tumor. She was not able to come home to see her one last time. It was very painful thing for a mother not to see her daughter for the last time.

The movie is directed by John D. Lasatin and it also stars Rayver Cruz, Beth Tamayo, who is now US based, Xyriel Manabat, Nonie Buencamino, Ana Capri and Daria Ramirez.
