Judges Back Finalist Lauren Alaina to Win Finale

If the judges had their way, Lauren Alaina would be crowned the next ‘American Idol.’

They backed the songbird of Rossville, to win the grand prize after she faced off against Scotty McCreery in three performances on the competition’s finale.

Jennifer Lopez said, Alaina’s good rendition of the ballad, ‘Like My Mother Does,’ may have won her the title.

It is a very close ‘fight’ tonight between the two finalists.

McCreery, the deep-voiced country singer, was also in it to win with his own possible future single, ‘I Love You This Big.’

Randy Jackson said, McCreery’s range on the ballad was great because he sung really low and really high.

Both songs were selected by ‘American Idol’ mentor Jimmy Iovine.

If Scotty sings with his cool voice tonight, there’s no reason that confetti doesn’t fall on him, said Iovine, the Interscope Records chairman who will sign the winner to his label.

McCreery, maintained his old-school country vibe throughout the competition, he was not among the show’s low vote-getters and considered to be one of the 10th season’s front-runners.

Alaina has also consistently delivered smooth performances this season, but she was once at the bottom, some weeks ago.

Tuesday’s finale began dramatically when host Ryan Seacrest announced that Alaina lost her voice during rehearsals.

He brought Dr. Shawn Nasseri on stage to explain that Alaina blew out one of her vocal cords but was given medication to be able to sing during the finale.

Alaina insisted at the beginning of the show that she could perform.

She was there and ready to sing, and was fine.
The singer with the most viewer votes will be revealed tomorrow.
