Goodbye Charice Pempengco & Welcome Jake Zyrus!

The fans of Charice may now say goodbye to Charice Pempengco and welcome Jake Zyrus.

Jake made the announcement through his social media account after he changed his name to Jake Zyrus on June 18, 2017.

The 25-five-year-old singer and songwriter thanked his fans and followers for ‘the love and respect’ they are showing in this time of transition.

He also showed appreciation for the articles that have been published about his major decision.

Jake gained popularity in 2005 as Charice Pempengco, who first opened up about his sexuality in 2013, when he revealed he was a lesbian.

A year after, he debuted a new look, donning a shorter blonde cut and tattoos.

The singer has then clarified in interviews that he identifies himself as a man, even landing himself the cover of magazine Mega Man’s 2016 pride month issue.

Jake took a break from the spotlight after his break-up with girlfriend Alyssa Quijano in April this year.

Netizens were shocked but ‘Jake Zyrus’ enjoyed an outpouring support from fans who welcomed the singer’s new identity.

They replied to his tweets, saying he deserved to be happy and they will always support him.

Meanwhile, another actor BB Gandanghari officially said goodbye to her old self as Rustom Padilla after a Los Angeles court granted her petition to change name and gender on November 2016.

BB is the older sibling of actor Robin Padilla and younger sibling of Royette and Rommel Padilla.

She is the former husband of actress Carmina Villaroel. Carmina is now hapily married to Zoren Legaspi.
