There is a public clamor for the return to showbiz of Kapamilya actress Kristine Hermosa.
For quite some time now, her big comeback to the entertainment industry has been anticipated.
Many projects were reportedly meant to be her vehicle to return to primetime but eventually, she ended up turning them down.
Now, Kristine has reportedly rejected a 3-year exclusive network contract from GMA-7.
And that deal could have earned her a whopping P28 million.
That could be a really hefty sum considering her long absence in the TV business and considering that her previous TV assignments were not widely followed.
Kristine allegedly stated in a social media shout out that she turned down the offer because she prefers to remain a Kapamilya star.
Kristine has always been a contract artist of Star Magic, the talent management arm of ABS-CBN and GMA-7 is a staunch rival of the station.
Many critics are raising questions over the accuracy of reports that GMA-7 offered such a contract to Kristine.
They know that Kristine was never a big star that she may think she is.
GMA-7 must have learned its lessons about contract stars who turn out to be huge problems of production crews due to attitude problems.
In her past ABS-CBN shows, it could be recalled that most members of the production were cursing Kristine allegedly because of her bad attitude towards work.
When she was still doing ‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo,’ more than a decade ago, the production reportedly complained to the management that Kristine was often moody and would not agree to do crying and dramatic scenes.
GMA-7 is now known for being a disciplinarian and the network immediately sanctions erring stars, who provide delays and setbacks on taping.
Claudine Barretto was also reportedly a major headache during her stint in primetime series ‘Iglot’ and she often went to taping very late and was making up excuses to pack up earlier.
Meanwhile, Kristine attended this year’s Star Magic Ball at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati with husband Oyo Sotto
In an interview, Kristine admitted that she already misses showbiz work, adding that she is now ready to face the cameras again.
She is ready to return to work but only if she has good offers.
Hermosa was last seen on TV in the 2010 fantasy series ‘Noah.’
For his part, Sotto said he is just ready to support his wife’s showbiz comeback
Kristine is also allegedly being eyed to play the role of Mars Ravelo’s ‘Dyesebel.’
ABS-CBN would bring back the popular local mermaid character to local TV which was played in 2009 by Marian Rivera in GMA-7.
Aside from Kristine, other stars allegedly in the shortlist are Anne Curtis, Bea Alonzo, and KC Concepcion.
