Nora Aunor Wins Best Actress in Russian Film Festival

Nora Aunor has once again scored an international award.

Aunor won the Best Actress for Brillante Ma. Mendoza’s ‘Thy Womb’ at the 3rd Sakhalin International Film Festival held in Russia last week.

It is Aunor’s fourth international honor for the role as a Badjao midwife.

The film was also one of the 8 official entries to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival.

The film has also been invited to the 37th Toronto International Film Festival in September and the 17th Busan International Film Festival in October 2013
She won a Best Actress award for the same portrayal at the 11th Gawad Tanglaw held on Thursday and would also receive a Best Performer trophy on September 3 from the Young Critics Circle.

She also won as Best Actress for ‘Thy Womb’ in the Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong, and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Australia.

And Aunor was given a special award, the Bisato d’Oro for Best Actress, by an independent group of film critics participating in the Venice International Film Festival.

Aside from Nora, Bembol Roco and Lovi Poe lead the cast of ‘Thy Womb.’
