Nonito Donaire Captures His 2nd World Title With Unanimous Decision Victory Over Jeffrey Mathebula

World champion Nonito Donaire won his 2nd World Title in the super bantamweight division with a unanimous decision victory over Jeffrey Methabula on July 8 (Manila Time).

Donaire started out quickly in the opening round with his blazing hand speed on full display.

He also used a high guard in the early rounds and landed several hard flush power punches.

In round 4 Donaire landed a cannon-ball of a wide, swinging left hook that floored Mathebula hard but Mathebule was saved by the bell and managed to continue the fight.

Mathebula had his moments late in the bout, doubled and tippled up his jab.

Donaire came roaring out in the eleventh using his own jab with frequency for the first time in the fight and followed up a jab with a big right hand.

In the 11th round, his right hand broke one of Mathebula’s teeth.

Donaire continued to bring the heat in the twelfth, chasing his injured opponent around the ring.

After the 12th round, Donaire unified the WBO and IBF 122-pound world titles.
