Matet de Leon Sees John Rendez’s Sincerity to her Mom

All is well now between Matet de Leon and her mom, Nora Aunor’s close friend John Rendez.

De Leon used to see her mom’s friend, John Rendez, in a negative light when she was younger. She used to believe that Rendez was just using her mom for his own gain.

It changed when she saw how the latter never left her mom’s side even during trying times. In spite of the fact that the Superstar’s friends had left her mom when things got bad.

  1. Janice De Belen says she is an avid ABS-CBN fan

After spending almost a decade on a rival network, Janice De Belen is now back at ABS-CBN as part of the upcoming teleserye Budoy. The actress/host said that coming over to the Kapamilya network was not an abrupt experience at all with the help of her Budoy co-stars who are also her longtime friends. “Siyempre nung una parang testing the waters pa. Nakakapanibago. I haven’t been here for a very long time. Pero naging okay naman. Kasi may mga kakilala na ako noon pa. Si Mylene (Dizon) matagal ko nang kilala pero hindi ko pa nakakawork. Si Zsa Zsa (Padilla) nakasama ko dati sa Familia Zaragoza.”

Janice said she is very much thrilled with Budoy as her first project as a returning Kapamilya. Budoy will tackle the challenges in the life of a special child to be played by Gerald Anderson, with Janice as his adoptive mother. “Ako ang tatayong nanay ni Budoy pero how that happened, you all have to find out. It’s close to the kind of mother that I am in real life. Loving, maalaga, the stereotypical mom. But the challenge in my role is that magiging nanay ako sa isang special child. This show is an eye-opener. Maraming emotions na nakapaloob. Kapag nanonood kayo mararamdaman niyo, ‘Ay, hindi pala ganun!’ O di kaya naman, ‘Ay, ganun pala!’ Basta I cannot reveal too much pa, ha ha ha!”

Working on Budoy, Janice admitted that she fell in love with the way ABS-CBN would meticulously come up with plots that will enthrall viewers. “Iba rin ang Creatives ng ABS-CBN. At dito sa Budoy naging kakaiba kasi si Direk Ruel Bayani kakaiba siya mag-describe ng character so it was a great experience for all of us.”

Janice further revealed that even when she was still working with another network, she would often watch some ABS-CBN shows. “Sa bahay nanonood din kami ng ABS-CBN. Kapag nakikita ko sa kitchen na nanonood sila ng ABS, makikinood na rin ako. I remember napanood ko si Gerald sa Tayong Dalawa and dun sa Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo. Pati ‘yung mga umeere ngayon, like ‘yung 100 Days to Heaven napapanood ko.”

Now that she is a Kapamilya, Janice said she is excited to explore other opportunities possibly other than acting. “Hindi naman ako mapili. If you offer me a project that is good and I’m fine doing it, I would accept it. Basta kaya ng schedule ko.”

  2. Kim Chiu welcomes Maja Salvador to ‘My Binondo Girl’

As the plot of My Binondo Girl thickens, lead star Kim Chiu is very excited about best friend Maja Salvador joining the cast. This is the first time that the two actresses will be together in one teleserye and Kim told that she is looking forward to spending more time with Maja on the set of My Binondo Girl. “Ang saya kasi dati ang show lang na nagkikita kami is ASAP. Ngayon aside from the normal na chikahan sa ASAP and tambay sa bahay nila magkakasama pa kami sa work. Mas fun kasi nandito na rin si Matteo (Guidicelli) at ‘yung iba pa. Mas masaya na kaming lahat.”

Right after it was confirmed that Maja would be joining the show, she and Kim got to talk at the backstage of ASAP and they both jumped up and down in excitement. “Nagkita kami sa ASAP and nagsigawan kami kasi na-confirm na nga na papasok na siya sa My Binondo Girl. Nag-hug kami and hindi kami makapaniwala. Excited kami.”

Now that the two drama princesses will be starring opposite each other, it’s inevitable for comparisons and rivalry to arise.

But rather than be worried, Kim said that she sees this as an opportunity to learn new things from a talented actress like Maja. “Masaya kasi kakaibang experience kasi dati ang trabaho lang namin na magkasama is kanta o sayaw sa ASAP. Ngayon aktingan na.”

  3. The Biggest Loser Fab Five share how hard it was growing up obese

As the country’s biggest reality TV show comes to an exciting finish, The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition’s Fab Five finalists recounted to the local media how hard it was for them having to deal with obesity so early on in their lives. Negros Occidental resident Raffy said he has always been one of the heaviest in his group of friends, which was why he was almost resigned to the fact that he would always be overweight. “Ever since bata ako, mataba na ako. Grade six pa lang ako, nasa 170 na ata ako eh. Tapos nung year 2006 dun ako nag-220 pounds tapos pataas na ng pataas hanggang na-reach ko yung 280-plus,” he revealed.

Camarines Sur native Hazel shared she doesn’t remember ever being thin since her days as an elementary student. ”Nag-start kasi ako maging mataba nung grade four pa lang ako and then patuloy na yung weight ko sa pag-increase. Hindi ko na-experience my whole life kung paano maging normal na teenager kasi growing up lahat panunukso and everything. So growing up malaki na talaga ako,” she shared.

26-year-old Angela said she knew she was overweight from as far as she could remember. “Ever since talaga, pagkapanganak ko pa lang, mataba na ako. Lumalaki ako na sinasabi ko lang na nasa genes ko lang pero hindi siya talaga nasa genes. Palaki lang ako ng palaki. Mas maliit ako ngayon kesa nung kinasal ako at kesa nung high school ako,” she admitted.

Bar owner and entrepreneur Art said there was a time in his life when he did lose weight because of fitness. But he was just not able to sustain it, so all the weight he lost abroad came back when he returned to the country. “Simula nung bata pa ako, mataba na talaga ako. Pero for a few years nagiging fit ako pero hindi kasing fit ng katulad ngayon. Those were the times na nag-te-train ako sa US pero after that bumalik lahat ng taba ko tapos nagdagdag pa. All the way to the point na ang highest weight ko was 360 pounds,” he said.

Former policeman Larry says that gaining weight not just affected his self-confidence but also other aspects of his life, which is why he is intent on continually working towards getting a six-pack and his job back in law enforcement. “Nung tumaba ako, nawala respect ko sa sarili ko at medyo wala ng control sa sarili. Kain na lang ng kain, bahala na. Puro inom, bisyo, ganun. Kaya siguro naabuso ko rin sarili ko na tumaba ako ng tumaba. Pero kasalanan ko kasi respeto ko sa sarili ko nawala,” he said.
